With over 36,600 producers, Italy holds first place in Europe and third place worldwide for the number of organic farms. Italy is also first in Europe and fourth in the world for land dedicated to organic production, with over 950,000 hectares, over 6% of overall agricultural land, and an average of 27 hectares per company against the 5 of conventional farming

There are over 800 organic holiday farms in Italy which offer, together with their warm hospitality, a lovely environment, landscape, biodiversity, traditions, health, and taste. This kind of holiday is experiencing continuous growth and the queen of hospitality and landscape is Tuscany, cradle of the Italian Renaissance.

There are 274 organic restaurants in Italy which use at least 70% organic ingredients - 171 are restaurants and 103 are holiday farms which cater as restaurants too. Vegetarian cuisine prevails. Holiday farm restaurants, thanks to the strong bond with the local territory, cater for more typical and traditional dishes.

The backbone of organic product distribution in Italy are the over one thousand specialised shops. Despite the fierce competition of supermarkets, especially regarding basic reference price, these pioneering shops are still the elected place for organic products, thanks to the irreplaceable wide range of assortment, the service provided and the personalised advice.
